Happy Halloween!

Halloween comes early around here. Some years ago, Milwaukee county encouraged towns, neighborhoods, and communities to move trick-or-treating to daylight hours, and in the days and evenings leading up to Halloween (with very few neighborhoods and communities actually trick-or-treating ON Halloween night.) And though it's a break from what I know, it makes sense safety-wise.

Best of all, it means that Josie got to wear her Halloween costume early, and she went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.

I made Josie's costume out of household items and I am so glad I did-- she only wore it for an hour-- but boy, was she so excited to wear it! She could hardly believe that she was actually a robot.





To be honest, she wasn't a huge fan of all the walking that trick-or-treating involves, nor did she really care to meet strangers, much less speak to them! But she did enjoy watching her treat bag fill up and she especially enjoyed checking out all the "fooky pumpkins."

Since visiting the pumpkin patch, Josie has taken a special interest in pumpkins-- and she calls them "fooky pumpkins" instead of spooky pumpkins. She loves to read her The Happy Pumpkin book, and Where is Baby's Pumpkin? She likes to look at them on our walks. And she really enjoyed carving one the night before trick-or-treating:
